HOME-BASED INTERVENTION

We would like the Home-Based intervention

At KlinikNord, we have extensive experience in home-based intervention and developmental support for children with autism and additional needs. Following current guidelines, we use evidence-informed approaches based on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), with clear goals, individualised learning programmes and ongoing monitoring of each child's progress. Above all, the wellbeing of the child and their family is at the heart of everything we do.

How can we help?

Home-based intervention should fit naturally into family life, with plenty of room for learning, play, breaks and time together. At KlinikNord, we help you turn your child's individual needs into clear, achievable goals and practical activities that feel manageable in everyday life. Through personalised learning programmes, ongoing supervision and hands-on guidance, we support you in helping your child develop new skills, build confidence and make meaningful progress at home.

INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY ORIENTED APPROACH

Home-based intervention

Home-based intervention helps children develop essential skills through personalised learning activities, play and structured practice in familiar, supportive surroundings. I Depending on your child's individual needs, this may include developing communication and language skills, social interaction, attention and concentration, independence and everyday life skills – helping them navigate both the small and bigger challenges of daily life with growing confidence.

As parents, you play a central role in your child's development. You know your child better than anyone and help them practise new skills in everyday life. But you don't need to be experts or come up with activities on your own – that's where we come in. At KlinikNord, we create personalised learning and development programmes with clear, measurable SMART goals. We guide you through practical activities, show you how to use them at home and regularly review your child's progress through ongoing supervision and simple progress tracking.

Learning and development can take place through short, planned activities or naturally as part of everyday family life – while playing, cooking, enjoying games or simply spending time together. In Denmark, home-based training programmes can be approved and funded by the local municipality under Section 85 of the Danish Child's Act (Barnets lov). Following an individual assessment, the municipality may cover eligible costs, including learning materials, professional supervision and additional training assistants. The aim isn't to turn every moment of family life into a training session. It's about creating more opportunities for learning within the routines and activities you already enjoy. Together, we find an approach that supports both your child's development and your family's wellbeing, while making room to celebrate every achievement, big or small.

Who Is eligible for Home-Based Intervention?

You do not need to be a Danish citizen to apply for publicly funded home-based intervention for your child under Section 85 of the Danish Child's Act (Barnets Lov). What matters is generally not your nationality or your child's citizenship, but whether your family is legally resident in Denmark and meets the relevant eligibility requirements. Applications are assessed by your local municipality, which is responsible for approving and funding home-based intervention programmes for eligible children. You can read more about the rules in Section 85 of the Danish Child's Act and the DUKH guidance on home-based intervention. Home-based intervention in Denmark is available to families with children and young people under 18 who have significant, long-term physical or developmental disabilities and require specialised support. Eligibility is based on the child's individual needs rather than a specific diagnosis. Applications for publicly funded home-based intervention are assessed and approved by the local municipality under Section 85 of the Danish Child's Act. Under the Danish Child's Act (Barnets Lov), your local municipality assesses whether the proposed home-based intervention meets your child's needs, whether the methods and progress can be appropriately documented, and whether you, as parents, are able to manage and carry out the programme. For further information, visit the [Danish Ministry of Social Affairs](https://www.sm.dk/).

We can help you with the application

At KlinikNord, we support families throughout the application process for publicly funded home-based intervention in Denmark. We guide you through the application, help describe your child's individual needs and prepare proposed learning goals, personalised intervention plans and supporting documentation for your local municipality. Together, we make the process clearer and more manageable, helping you feel informed, confident and prepared when communicating with the municipality, which is responsible for assessing and approving your application.

Home-Based intervention assistants – Extra support for your child’s learning and development

A home-based intervention assistant can provide valuable extra support when your child's learning programme benefits from another adult or additional opportunities to practise and develop new skills.

A home-based intervention assistant works alongside the family, following the child's individualised learning and intervention programme. They may help with activities that require two adults or provide opportunities for the child to practise communication, social interaction and everyday skills with someone other than their parents. Parents retain overall responsibility for their child's home-based intervention, while the assistant's role and activities are tailored to the child's individual needs and the programme approved by the local municipality.

At KlinikNord, we provide professional guidance, supervision and practical support for both parents and home-based intervention assistants, helping everyone work towards shared goals, use effective strategies and monitor your child's progress and development.

Under Section 85 of the Danish Child's Act (Barnets Lov), your local municipality may cover necessary costs for home-based intervention assistants when their involvement forms part of your child's approved home-based intervention programme.

Our approach

Initial meeting

We review relevant reports and assessments, observe your child and establish a baseline of their current skills and abilities. This helps us set clear, individualised learning goals and develop a personalised home-based intervention programme tailored to your child's needs.

Supervision

During supervision sessions, you show us how you're working with your child's learning activities. Together, we review progress records, celebrate achievements, adjust strategies and set new SMART goals to support your child's continued development. We also stay in close contact between visits, so you feel supported throughout your home-based intervention programme.

Local authority reviews and monitoring

We help document your child's progress, prepare detailed progress reports and review individual SMART goal. When agreed with the family, we can also participate in local authority reviews and follow-up meetings to support the ongoing evaluation of your child's home-based intervention programme.
